Racks
WMH are a leading manufacturer of high precision ground straight and helical racks. We were one of the first companies in Europe to grind racks and have been producing racks for over 100 years at our factory in Germany. We can produce from DIN quality 5 hard and ground racks for test and inspection equipment to quality 12 soft milled racks for lower dynamic, cost sensitive applications and anything in between. High precision ground racks are typically available in 500mm, 1000mm lengths designed to be continuously mounted one after another to reduce cumulative tooth pitch error with mid to low end accuracy racks available as 2000mm or 3000mm to simplify machine design and reduce build time. Racks can be made in lengths up to 6000mm as a single piece too for specific applications. We can produce racks in a range of materials from standard C45 steel, high tensile ETG100 steel, X8CrNiS8 stainless steel and even nylon plastic. We offer in-house design and life time calculation services allowing us to help you select the ideal rack and pinion system to suit your application. We can also modify standard stock racks too to reduce face widths, create custom rack lengths or machine bespoke mounting hole spacing to suit any application.
Linear Guides
WMH hold the largest stock of HIWIN linear guide rails and guide blocks in the UK. Covering all styles from size 15 to 65 standard ball guides and roller guides, size 15 to 35 low profile ball guides, size 17 to 50 wide linear guides and size 7 to 15 miniature ball guides. We have a bespoke linear guide rail cutting department allowing us to cut rails to any requested length as a single piece up to 4000mm (5600mm on certain sizes) or to any longer length imaginable as butt jointed assemblies made up of multiple cut lengths maintaining the hole spacing over the joints. We primarily stock H grade ball guides and P grade roller guides but lower or higher accuracy grades are also available if required. We also offer linear guide way coating or plating and even stainless steel liner guides too for specific applications requiring the extra protection. We offer a range of additional seal kits for more harsh environments and lubrication units and automatic lubrication pumps for applications requiring lower maintenance! We can offer same day fast cutting service on linear rails for break down situations helping you to reduce any down time and loss of productivity!
Gears / Pinions

We were one of the first companies in Europe to grind racks and have been producing racks for over 100 years at our factory in Germany. We can produce from DIN quality 5 hard and ground pinion gears for test and inspection equipment to quality 12 soft milled gears for lower dynamic, cost sensitive applications and anything in between. We offer a range of standard stock pinion gears from 1 module up to 8 module tooth sizes and from 12 teeth up to 120 teeth on certain sizes. We offer everything from case hardened master gears with determined bore sizes for maximum strength and durability to soft milled spur gears with pilot bores which we can then rework with bores, keyways, grub screws and reduced hub diameters and face widths in-house in our machine shop. We can also machine ISO 9409 bolt patterns into gears ready to be bolted onto our flanged gearboxes offering a total solution ready to accept your servo motor.
